Since its debut on Euronext Growth Milan in February 2025, the group has been growing both organically and through acquisitions: the acquisition of NEC's Unified Communication division, the Comtel Innovation research centre, managed services with dedicated NOC/SOC and a training division certified by the leading vendors, with 8 offices across Italy.

Our history

Comtel from 1992 to today

Founded in 1992 under the name Intelrom, Comtel has been on a journey of evolution and growth spanning more than 20 years.

In 1998 Intelrom and other corporate entities merged into what would later become Comtel, marking the beginning of a new era for the company. From 2002, with the acquisition of the "Transmission Equipment and Radio Links" branch from Alcatel Italia, Comtel launched its Carrier Division. A phase of expansion followed, with new offices and the creation of strategic divisions such as Enterprise and Voice, the latter later becoming VoIP and then VoIPCloud. In 2006 a further business branch, "Technical Support and Testing of Transport Equipment", was acquired from Alcatel Italia, forming Comtel's Assurance group.

Reconfigured as a joint-stock company in 2007, Comtel continued to innovate with new offices and the introduction of further solutions, services and specialisations, including Network and SBC (Session Border Control) solutions in 2010, the Public Administration vertical in 2012, and the Transmission & Access (2015) and Network Security (2019) solutions. The Comtel Academy was also launched in the same period.

In 2020 the company joined the Nextaly group, extending its specialisations and offering with the Hospitality vertical and, in the following years, with the Modern Work and Data Center Solutions & Services solutions, the Private and Finance verticals and, in 2023, the Cloud & IT Transformation and Cybersecurity solutions.

Today Comtel drives innovation in the ICT systems integration sector, strengthened by its listing on Euronext Growth Milan and the integration of NovaNext into the group.

    The birth of Comtel

    Intelrom was founded on 21 July 1992 in Rome, the beginning of our long experience in the ICT sector

  2. 2002

    Comtel Carrier Division

    Acquisition of the "Transmission Equipment and Radio Links" branch from Alcatel Italia and birth of the Comtel Carrier Division

  3. 2003

    Enterprise Division and Voice solution

    Creation of the Enterprise Division, with offices in Milan, Rome and Padua, and integration of the Voice solution, which later became VoIP and then VoIPCloud

  4. 2006

    Assurance Group

    Acquisition of the "Technical Support and Testing of Transport Equipment" branch from Alcatel Italia and birth of Comtel's Assurance group

  5. 2007

    Joint-stock company

    Comtel becomes a joint-stock company (Società per Azioni), marking an important evolution in its organisational structure

  6. 2010

    Network and SBC

    Comtel introduces new Network and SBC (Session Border Control) solutions and services

  7. 2015

    Transmission & Access

    Creation of the Transmission & Access solution in the Enterprise Division, complementing the expertise of the Carrier Division

  8. 2018

    Comtel Academy

    Foundation of the Comtel Academy to train young talent in the sector

  9. 2019

    Network Security

    Birth of the Network Security solution with services such as Network Segmentation, Firewall, Network Access Control (NAC) and intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDPS)

  10. 2020

    Acquisition by Nextaly

    Comtel is acquired by the Nextaly group, a financial holding company owned by Davide Cilli, who is appointed Chief Executive Officer

    Reorganisation and new solutions

    Sale of the "Carrier Division" branch to ComNet and birth of the Modern Work and Data Center Solutions & Services solutions

    Fabio Lazzerini appointed CEO and new Plan

    IPO and NovaNext acquisition

    Comtel goes public on the Euronext Growth Milan market and acquires NovaNext, further strengthening its position in the ICT sector
